We’re absolutely thrilled to spotlight Huini Muchangi, a woman whose talents feel like they’ve been touched by the mythical Midas himself. A storyteller, marketer, and more recently, a runner—Huini’s journey is one of creativity, discipline, and human connection. Sit tight as we dive into an inspiring conversation with her.

We Run Nairobi (WRN): Huini, thank you so much for doing this! I have to say, you are just an absolute genius. Midas himself! Tell us everything about you!

Huini Muchangi: Haha, thank you! Where do I even begin? I’m a very open person—an open book, really. I’ve always loved being around people, connecting with them, and telling stories. Recently, I’ve even started running, which is a whole new adventure for me. Professionally, I help businesses tell their stories through digital marketing, something I’ve become really passionate about.

Values and Mantras to Live By

WRN: And what are your core values?

Huini: Gratitude and discipline are at the heart of everything I do. I truly believe that showing gratitude in everything and maintaining discipline in my work and life is what keeps me grounded.

WRN: That’s powerful! Do you have a personal mantra?

Huini: Yes, I believe in leaving a positive impact on everyone I meet. I want people to feel at ease and leave with a smile after interacting with me.

WRN: Mission accomplished! You certainly do that! What would you like people to remember you for?

Huini: That’s easy—someone who always made others comfortable, who left people feeling better than they did before.

Big Dreams, Bold Goals

WRN: Speaking of discipline, what goals are you currently working towards?

Huini: I’ve been working in marketing since 2016, and it’s been a wild journey. I didn’t even realize what I was doing back then was marketing, but here we are, nine years later! My goal now is to create something bigger than just a marketing agency. I want to build a one-stop production studio that helps businesses tell their stories seamlessly. I’m so excited about launching my website soon—it feels like the first big step toward that dream.

WRN: That’s massive! Go for it! Now, we know you’re a new runner and a total tennis baddie. What other sporty things might we find you doing?

Huini: Haha, just tennis for now! I absolutely love it.

On Learning, Tennis, and Outdoor Adventures

WRN: Tennis is the best, no competition! What’s something else you’re dying to learn?

Huini: Well, there are two urgent things I need to learn—swimming and driving. It might sound funny, but I can’t swim or drive yet, and it’s about time! I’d also love to learn Arabic and Somali at some point.

WRN: Get on it! Driving will change your life, I promise. By the way, are you reading anything right now?

Huini: Yes! I’m reading Branded Beauty by Mark Tungate. It’s all about how marketing has influenced how we perceive beauty—fascinating stuff.

WRN: Love it! When you’re not deep in a book, how do you spend your free time?

Huini: I’m big on outdoor activities, and I love hosting people at my place. I’m always on the go, so it’s rare for me to sit down and binge-watch anything—unless it’s How to Get Away with Murder! Viola Davis can have all my time.

Life’s Little Joys

WRN: Viola Davis, honestly, she’s everything! Speaking of, what’s the one app you use the most?

Huini: Instagram, without a doubt! It’s also work, so it keeps me busy.

WRN: Fair enough! Now, what can instantly turn your day around?

Huini: Haha, getting that message that my account’s been credited, for sure! But also, cooking—especially when I’m cooking for more than just myself. And recently, tennis has been a huge mood booster for me.

Travel and Life’s Lessons

WRN: Sounds like the perfect recipe for joy! What’s been your best vacation?

Huini: Cape Town, no question. I’d go back in a heartbeat!

WRN: I feel that! So beautiful. Is there something you’ve never quite understood?

Huini: I’ve always struggled with realizing that the level of interest you have in people may not always be reciprocated. It’s something I’m still learning to accept.

Strengths and Struggles

WRN: Totally relatable! Lastly, what’s your favorite and least favorite thing about yourself?

Huini: My favorite is definitely my desire to always improve. My least favorite is overthinking—it slows me down a lot. Sometimes I respond to emails in my head even before drafting them, which can be exhausting.

WRN: That overthinking spiral is real! For me, getting outside and taking a walk helps reset my perspective. But I know it’s different for everyone.

WRN: That’s all for today, Huini! Thank you so much for sharing your story with us and for the incredible work you’ve done in telling our story at We Run Nairobi. You’ve made all the difference! See you on Saturday!
